The city of Stanton California Groundbreaking for Stanton Central Park

My mother and I went to Stanton’s groundbreaking ceremony this afternoon! It was fantastic to hear what is in store for our small town!

I learned that this has been in the works for 10 years and will be completed by June 2016, just in time for the cities 60th anniversary!

I took some notes:

There will be

  • Community Center
  • Walking trail
  • Butterfly garden
  • Swings
  • Splash area
  • Skate park
  • Basketball Court
  • Tennis Court
  • Soccer field
  • Baseball field
  • Concert area
  • Events area

The park will be 11.5 acres
It cost 1 Million an acre. Funds are Not from the daily Stanton budget

The City of Stanton purchsed the land from the savanna school board, Mary Perez Elementary School was located here (I went there for the 5th grade 😁)

Mary Perez school was closed in 1984 – there will be a plaque and mural for Mary Perez on the park grounds.

‘Park of the community’ with 13 k people per acre, Stanton is one of the most densely populated cities in Orange County

Landscaping – drought tolerant plants – smart irrigation- low flow meters- etc
Park was designed by David Voltz
U.S. Builders who built the Irvine park are building this park!

The following pictures are of city officials

We had a fun. It was very interesting and look forward to June 2016!!

Thank you #cityofstanton

Happy Creating!,
